Over the past 50 years, energy costs for industrial spaces such as Warehouses have increased more than six-fold and it isn’t slowing down any time soon. Implementing a cost-efficient heating system that works for warehouses is more important than ever.
You may ask yourself why you even need warehouse heating when typically your staff wear jumpers and gloves anyway. In the HSE Workplace Regulations 1992, the government places the emphasis on employers keeping the warehouse at a “reasonable” temperate, which is the subject of much debate. The standard temperature is 16ºC, unless workers are partaking in physical activity, in which case the temperature can drop to 13ºC. Of course, you want your staff to feel comfortable in your warehouse, because if they don’t then their productivity will start to decline.
Thankfully there is a solution. Winrow has installed a range of heating systems for companies throughout the UK. We help businesses maintain a comfortable working temperature while helping them to become more energy efficient and significantly reducing their heating costs. For examples of our work take a look at our Case Studies.
Solutions from Winrow can offer savings of over 30%. This is done by taking advantage of innovative heat recovery techniques that help to deliver a balanced and consistent environment for your warehouse.

There are two common options when it comes to heating a warehouse – warm air and radiant heating. Warm air heating is the most common choice, especially when high rise racking is involved. However, the right heater always depends on the building. At Winrow, we’ll always recommend the best solution for each individual job. We can offer advice on the best-suited heater for each building and tailor the heating solution to suit any industrial or commercial setting. We aim to make every heating setup as efficient and cost-effective as possible. For a full list of our products click here.
Warm air heaters are the most commonly used heaters in a range of commercial setting including Warehouses. They work by passing the air in the building over a heat exchange where the air becomes heated. The air is then distributed evenly throughout the building. Warm air heaters can be floor standing or suspended when space is limited. Suspended heaters can be placed on walls, from brackets and even from the roof.
Radiant heaters function by heating any and all solid objects and surfaces such as machinery or people through the use of infrared waves. Radiant heaters are suspended in the air and then directs below to produce infrared heat. The energy passes through the air and dissipates as heat on contact, ideal for localised or spot heating.
Radiant heaters are also very good at recovering heat loss. If cool air is allowed into the warehouse then Radiant heaters can quickly restore previous heat levels within minutes.
